Trailer: Moneyball - Sept 23

Directed by Bennett Miller, written by Aaron Sorkin and Steven Zaeillian. Starring Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Robin Wright, and Chris Pratt.

While it doesn’t pack the punch of the teaser for Sorkin’s fall stunner last year (The Social Network) it does whet the appetite for a sophisticated sports underdog story. Pitt seems at ease in the environment and Jonah Hill has the potential to be very wisely cast. I’m glad they went ahead with making this film, despite the vast studio and budget issues they were facing. It could have real potential come award season, and if it doesn’t it looks solid enough to stand on its own.

Only in it for Brad and Sorkin… but I’m not a fan of sports movies.

Sorkin writing Pitt in a movie about the birth of modern sabermetrics?

Did future me become extraordinarily wealthy, build a time machine, and go back in time to finance this movie just so that I could enjoy it in September?

I’d like to think that He/I did.
