This is semi depressing and semi sappy but its a video featuring a commencement speech by david foster wallace and it is NINE MINUTES LONG (and I actually had to tell myself mid way through “DONT TURN IT OFF”) but if you have the time and the energy there are worse ways to kill a few minutes

So a student that I did not give a great grade to on a midterm
has left the class
and sent me a nice email saying he was going to pursue other career opportunities
and I don’t know if the grade had anything to do with it
or if he left just the class or school as a whole
or even if the opportunities are great ones and he’s making a good decision
but I can’t stop thinking of what if its not a good decision and he’s doing it, in part, because of the grade
and I want to barf
everywhere
